Welcoming Back Inbox Zero
I stumbled upon the concept of Inbox Zero over eight years ago when Google released Inbox by Gmail, an email management service alternative to Gmail. The goal was to help users better manage their email and improve email productivity through features like bundles, reminders, snooze, and highlight. I liked the minimal feel of the application and how the algorithms categorized and bundled emails of similar topics together for reading. Looking back, I realize that I didn't appreciate the reminders or snooze functionalities at the time because I didn't have a productivity system to store reminders.
Starting Personal Knowledge Management
Your mind is for having ideas, not holding them. Last year, I rediscovered this quote when reviewing David Allen's Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity. It suggests that the mind is better suited for generating new ideas and thinking creatively rather than trying to remember and hold onto vast amounts of information. Although the mind is good at recognizing information and drawing connections, it can be terrible at recalling that information.
Filtering Spam Emails with Power Automate
It's New Year's Eve and I've spent the last few days reviewing goals, projects, and tools in preparation for a streamlined 2023. Over the past 2 months, I've received more spam than usual in my email at Outlook.com and today is the perfect day to revamp the spam filters. Built-In Email Features Outlook.com has a built-in spam filter that moves emails to the spam folder but it might mislabel some newsletters as spam and so I can't clear the spam folder without reviewing it.
